A LUXURIOUS JUSTICE???

  “While I was a student, it was more than a struggle for my parents. We were feeding from hand to mouth, literally, but we didn’t even have a choice to stop my schooling because they were more than bent on seeing me successful, and I on the other hand, was bent on making my uneducated parents proud. Honestly, we were getting used to the suffering. We kept on adapting and adapting till… well, my parents didnt know how I was going to adapt after bandits raided my school and kidnapped 64 of us, including our teachers and principal.   The news spread faster than wildfire and almost everyone in our not so little village knew about it. Of course, they did feel bad for the families of the victims, only for the next minute to be used to gaslight other villagers… not to leave their homes in search of us, or take the laws i to their hands, or even to go spiritual like we heard some communities do, but just to sit in bed and feel bad for the captives in the forest with bandits.  Ho...

WHEN LIFE GOES THE OTHER WAY ROUND.

Looking at things this way: The citizens of Nigeria would not be this mad if things went the other way round;

● If fuel didn’t skyrocket from #450 to #900.

● If the highest currency in the country could still feed a family for a day or two.

● If common sachet water did not have to cost #50 for each.

● If the reason for removing fuel subsidy was maintained (to invest more in the educational and health sector) but mind you, school fees and hospital bills keep on leaving citizens in a state of dilemma.

 ● If the price of accommodation is not pushing people to rather stay out in the slums because the houses are not even worth the price anymore!!!

● If a bare minimum way of living (traveling by air, buying yourself a crate of eggs, subscribing a monthly plan e.t.c.) is considered luxury.

● If the cost of living in the country is not threatening to kill the living.

● If a #10,000 monthly allowance could still sustain a student.

● If education, and not connection remained the key to success.

● If a graduate completes SERVING the country and finds a job IN LINE WITH HIS FIELD OF STUDY.

● If after reading for my exam in LASU, I do not get struck with the realization that I do not have transport fare to take me to and fro my exam venue.

● If the value of minimum wage still has its worth.

● If the cost of transportation (road or air) could still be bargained.

● If #5,000 could still last just an individual for a week or more.

● If a bag of rice could be bought for #8,500 or even lesser.

Dear Excellency Tinubu, a hungry man is an angry man and if an administration is meant to be messed up, it does not have to get to the point where food and water are also deprived the citizens. Nigerians, both young and old, rich or poor, are all tired…

NEPO BABY OR SNEPO BABY

  One very funny thing about Nigerians is our ability to give a very wrong meaning to words or coining out our own word and using that word both in and out of context. A perfect example of this is “ nepo  & lapo babies” (our focus will be on the nepo babies) In Nigeria, a nepo(tism) baby is a child from a VERY RICH, or in better words, a luxurious background. “Nepo baby” has, for a while now being the newest word in Nigerians’ dictionary, with us forgetting what nepotism actually is. A regular Nigerian could, in a layman’s terms, define nepotism as being wealthy. Why? This is because we have misused the word “nepotism” to the extent of taking it out of context.
