When Peace Becomes A Privilege
I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that we still have the whole of year 2026 and part of 2027 to continue living this way. While prepping this piece, I remembered a song that was on the lips of almost every Nigerian barely six months into this present government (video attached beneath).
I couldn't help but ask myself, were we really complaining about Mr. BAT then, if only the future us had seen today, if only our 2023 selves got a peep into today to see that the order of the day has become kidnapping and terrorism and it is spreading like a virus at this point. These terrorists are not the regular terrorists, they are the content creator type of terrorists who update the country on their trips and yet we have the military doing nothing but standing by the same dangerous roadsides to collect common 200 Naira from struggling Nigerians who are trying to earn a living from transportation…Stay with me.
Can we even talk about this country under Mr. BAT’s regime and not talk about how people, students, especially of the higher institutions, have to question the worth of stepping out to go have fun, attend classes, go for their business, etc. because the thought of "Shey I for no just use my money chop?” would always hit them. Is this really a life? Even if one decides to choose food over his business or education, whatever the case may be. Isn't it diabolical that the highest currency in a country cannot afford a meal? Back in 2023,you could afford:
Egg:#400
Tomato and pepper:#200
Onions:#50
Rice:#400
Maggi:#30
Curry and thyme:#100
Sachet of groundnut oil:#120
You could at least prepare a course meal for yourself but let's not talk about family people or when you wanted to eat like a typical Nigerian and I mean our variety of swallow foods and mouth-watering and delicious soups.
I'm sorry but aren't we going to talk about the health sector? Day in day out, week in week out, month in month out, we have countless citizens watch their loved ones lose their lives due to the very poor health infrastructure in the country and how about those with emergency cases? How about women who get into labor?? Situations like these make me grateful to health practitioners who take it as a point of duty to post health tips to the public.
And lastly, I have a question for Mr.BAT. What exactly was the removal of fuel subsidy for? Because maybe if fuel wasn’t as expensive as it is right now, food wouldn’t be as expensive and transportation wouldn’t be so expensive that I have to question whether or not to go for lectures.

I love how you are attuned with what’s currently going on that means you choose this topic diligently, it’s a great piece and a lot of important questions were asked.. keep it up ❤️

ReplyDeleteApt👌
ReplyDeleteWe must continue to hold our leaders accountable……for their past promises, their actions now, and the choices they make that will shape our nearest future.
We must stand up to question this people we call our leaders
ReplyDeleteIt is well o, God will help us all
ReplyDeleteMay God help us. BAT is taking Nigeria backward instead of forward... In 2027, we will fight for our lives because if we don't fight, we won't get it right. Let them try to rig the election in 2027. Anyone who wants to rig the election for BAT comes 2027 should prepare he/she because it’s going to be bloody election, not the usual ones we normally have in Nigeria. In 2027, it’s going to be war against the criminals who call themselves leaders of our country. May God never return BAT to Nigeria in 2027. Even though he didn't win the 2023 election, he rigged his way into the office. INEC, Yakubu, and that useless man called himself Buhari allowed him to rigged his way into the office. It will never go well for Yakubu and Buhari, wherever they are, alive or dead. Those two criminals sold Nigeria to the highest bidder.
