A LUXURIOUS JUSTICE???

 “While I was a student, it was more than a struggle for my parents. We were feeding from hand to mouth, literally, but we didn’t even have a choice to stop my schooling because they were more than bent on seeing me successful, and I on the other hand, was bent on making my uneducated parents proud. Honestly, we were getting used to the suffering. We kept on adapting and adapting till… well, my parents didnt know how I was going to adapt after bandits raided my school and kidnapped 64 of us, including our teachers and principal. 

The news spread faster than wildfire and almost everyone in our not so little village knew about it. Of course, they did feel bad for the families of the victims, only for the next minute to be used to gaslight other villagers… not to leave their homes in search of us, or take the laws i to their hands, or even to go spiritual like we heard some communities do, but just to sit in bed and feel bad for the captives in the forest with bandits. 

Honestly, I had never been so irritated as to the number of people who engaged in this performative outrage and everyday, I wonder how my parents must have felt by such turn up of gaslighting each other here and there, without actually making any move and personally, I felt everyone should have just not said anything about it and just go about their days or better still, a celebrity brings up one or more social media frenzy like they always did… just maybe my parents and I would have adapted faster.”

 

That exactly, is most likely how those kids in the forest must feel when they see that we as a nation are seeking “justice” for them right in our beds, while gaslighting every other person to feel bad about them in the bush. And one of the things that infuriated me about the whole “justice” was the use of Ai to not only design but also attach faces to the babies in the bush. I mean… if we’re really interested in this Justice for the kids, why isn’t anyone taking ACTUAL ACTIONS?? What’s with the whole “while being comfortable in your bed while it’s raining heavily, remember there are kids in the bush”… why not go then into the bush and bring them back or just DO SOMETHING!!! 

 

NB: I’m not against any “fight” against the insecurity in the country… but claiming to fight when you’re in fact doing nothing just makes me wonder what exactly we call “justice”. Or what does justice really mean to us as a nation? Is it just a performative action that never leaves our screen or???

    Now after this call out, what next? Are we Nigerians ready to go out tomorrow morning, and protest? Are we and you too going to join any gathering that attempts to march into the bush in disguise to rescue them? You are right to call every single adult - like out, we must take ACTUAL ACTIONS and not seek justice through our keyboards and expressions. Hard truth, we are scared. Scared of what? Death! The Government! I don’t want to be the scape goat for those bastards in power while everyone moves on later on like nothing happened, you also don’t want that. But, we can turn on our cameras, call out the government, form orgs and seek support to go out there and actually rescue those children from those uncivilized and demeaning humans that are not worth existing. Arise all ye youths, stand up from your beds, pause lifestyle, shut down schools, shut down market places and businesses. Shut everything down! Let us arm ourselves and match out to fight our fellow human beings who torment our future and peace. Arise Nigeria! This cannot be our new normal! 💪

    What is more saddening about this issue is that the Nigerian Government doesn't know how big the pandemic is in the state.

    Shutting down the country and economy has to be the only actionable action, cause as long as everything else is running, these children will eventually just be added to extra numbers and it saddens me to the bones. Nigeria feels like a circus that’s no longer funny, especially to us in the country. I’m open to more actionable ideas.❤️&💡

NEPO BABY OR SNEPO BABY

  One very funny thing about Nigerians is our ability to give a very wrong meaning to words or coining out our own word and using that word both in and out of context. A perfect example of this is “ nepo  & lapo babies” (our focus will be on the nepo babies) In Nigeria, a nepo(tism) baby is a child from a VERY RICH, or in better words, a luxurious background. “Nepo baby” has, for a while now being the newest word in Nigerians’ dictionary, with us forgetting what nepotism actually is.
