I'm a woman and I'm human

Call this feminism, I do not care, but let it be known that “to every supremacy and authority of a man, there should be a limit”. When I say I seek equal rights with a man, I do not mean struggling to take the position of a man. I’m simply seeking to be treated like a human. Women are human also!

Personally, I feel there are certain cultures and by culture, I mean archaic habits of our forefathers that should have been dropped by now, in this age because the world is evolving and soonest, it would seize to evolve just around men.

The fact you can walk into a space or room but I can’t simply because I’m a woman, is insane, isn’t it? But you letting me know I won’t be able to go into that same space because I’m not strong enough to overcome the obstacles in it is enough reason for me to withdraw.

Look here, when Jesus told wives to submit to their husbands, he also yolks the husbands to love their wives just as he loves the church. Now, you can’t tell me you love me but beat me up because you got back from work and your food wasn’t ready, knowing fully well I had the children to look after since I had to quit my job to look after the home. You do not need a close look to tell that this wife is denied her right, not only to earn a living but also her right to freedom of speech and expression. Aside from that, she happens to be a victim of domestic violence and is forced to be quiet about it because of the that marriage is a death den (mind you, I’m not in the slightest way against marriage but this kind, I fully am). Women in this shoes are afraid of the stigma basically. Not only the stigma from society and family but also the hardship that comes with single hood after marriage, especially with children ๐Ÿ˜”

These dehumanizing acts do not come physically all the time; other times, they come in verbal and emotional forms. A husband calling his wife all sort of names to mean fat and ugly after making her a sit at home baby making machine screams in utmost disgust

Let’s even divert from marriage...

I have been in situations where guys laugh at girls for being stained during their period! Grown ass guys who could afford the littlest help of saving her the embarrassment. I also had this classmate who always promised himself he wouldn’t eat food prepared by his wife whenever she was on her period.

What do guys see periods as? It’s not some kind of disease that you should flee from and then the laughter and mockery is something rather pathetic than funny.

I would have loved to expatiate more on this but at the same time, I wouldn’t want this to be perceived wrongly but one thing I’d want us to understand is that “the beauty of humanity is in the diversity and making life a one way thing by welcoming only men wouldn’t help in shaping and making the world a better place”.

This piece is not to promote gender war or anything of the sort๐Ÿง‍♀️

  9. Very true. It's sad that men view submission the wrong way. Thinking women shouldn't have a life anymore after getting married.
